Starter: Ask the class what they think eating healthily means. What types of food are healthy foods? Look at the Healthy plate information sheet with the pupils and get them to think of different examples for each food type.
In groups pupils draw their own healthy plate, illustrating the 5 different food types and cut out or draw examples for each on or around the plate.
Pupils investigate whether the food is available as Fairtrade by checking on the internet. If it is they add this information to their “plates”.
In their groups, pupils think of different endings to the following sentences and add them to the posters.
Healthy eating is good for you because….
Fairtrade is good for us and others because….
Some pupils may want to investigate further which other foods on their plates can be bought organically and add this information to their posters.
